What is MP CPCT and Why Does It Matter?

The Computer Proficiency and Certification Test (CPCT) is conducted by MAP_IT (Madhya Pradesh Agency for Promotion of Information Technology) ↗ on behalf of the MP government. A valid CPCT scorecard is mandatory for most Group B and Group C computer-operator posts in Madhya Pradesh — including Patwari, Sahayak Grade 3, Data Entry Operator, and district court clerk roles.

The September 2026 batch (5–7 September) is the next opportunity. Applications close on 17 August 2026 — so time is very short.

Exam Pattern — Section A & Section B

Section B is what most candidates fear — and what this guide focuses on entirely.

Speed Requirements

To get a 50% scaled score (minimum for most MP govt jobs):

• English Typing: 30 WPM net
• Hindi Typing: 20 WPM net

For senior posts like DEO or court clerk, departments often demand 40+ WPM English and 25+ WPM Hindi. Aim higher than the minimum.

Hindi Typing — Remington Gail vs Inscript

This is the most confusing part for new candidates. MP CPCT supports two Hindi keyboard layouts:

Remington Gail (Recommended for most)

• The most widely used layout in MP government offices
• Keys mapped to phonetic positions — feels natural if you've used a Hindi typewriter
• Works on Mangal / Unicode font
• Most coaching institutes teach this layout
• Practice this if you're a beginner

Inscript (Unicode)

• Standard government keyboard layout
• Same key positions across all Indian languages
• Harder to learn from scratch but very consistent
• If you already know Inscript, stick with it

The CPCT Error Formula — Understand Before You Practice

MP CPCT calculates your net speed using this formula:

Net WPM = (Total words typed − Incorrect words) ÷ Time in minutes

Every incorrectly typed word is subtracted from your total. If you type 35 words but 6 are wrong, your net WPM is only 29 — below the 30 WPM cutoff.

This means: Raw speed means nothing if accuracy is poor. A candidate typing 40 WPM at 75% accuracy scores worse than someone typing 32 WPM at 95% accuracy.

30-Day Preparation Plan

Week 1 — Accuracy First (Days 1–7)

• Practice English and Hindi separately — 20 minutes each per day
• Target: 95%+ accuracy at any speed

• Focus on home row keys only

Week 2 — Build Speed (Days 8–14)

• Push English to 35 WPM, Hindi to 22 WPM
