How long does it take to reach 50 WPM?
It depends on your starting point and how consistently you practise, so nobody can promise you a date. What we can tell you is what works: 20–30 focused minutes a day, accuracy before speed, and never looking at the keyboard. Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Open the site and start typing — it works on any computer with a physical keyboard, and there is nothing to download or configure.
How is WPM calculated?
We use the standard formula: characters divided by 5, divided by minutes elapsed. Your net WPM counts only the characters you typed correctly, so errors cost you speed instead of being hidden. Raw WPM — before that penalty — is shown alongside it, plus accuracy as a percentage of the characters you attempted.
Can I use this to prepare for employment typing tests?
Yes. There are 10 tests built around what employers screen on — data entry, administrative assistant, customer support, general office — each with its own WPM target, accuracy threshold, and duration, so you can practise under the same conditions instead of guessing.
